Leading Without Losing Your Mind (or Your Slippers)

Let’s face it — leadership sounds cool until you realize it means being blamed for things you didn’t do, fixing things you didn’t break, and smiling like you slept well when you didn’t.But don’t worry — leadership doesn’t have to be boring, bossy, or bald-inducing. It just needs humor, heart, and a little bit of holy patience.

1. You’re Not the Boss of the Universe (And That’s Okay)

Good leaders know they’re not God. They don’t pretend to know it all, be it all, or fix it all.Instead of micromanaging like an overcaffeinated parent at a toddler party, they delegate, trust, and pray (a lot).

Lesson: Don’t burn out trying to do everything. Even Jesus had 12 assistants — and one still messed up.

2. Lead With Your Ears, Not Just Your Mouth

Some leaders love the sound of their own voice — and guess what? No one else does.Good leaders listen — to their team, to wisdom, to silence (yes, silence talks too).

Lesson: If your team avoids your meetings like bad network coverage, you may not be as inspiring as you think.

3. Mistakes Will Happen — Own It and Laugh

Leaders are not perfect. You’ll forget names, miss deadlines, send emails with “see attached” and forget the attachment. It’s okay.

Lesson: Laugh, learn, and move on. People don’t need a flawless leader — they need a real one.

4. Don’t Take Yourself Too Seriously

Nobody likes a leader who thinks they’re Moses parting the Red Sea every Monday morning. Humility + humor = influence.

Lesson: Laugh at your own jokes. Admit you don’t know everything. Let people correct you. It’s leadership, not dictatorship.

5. Lead By Example (Not by Meme)

Posting inspirational quotes is fine. But if your team sees your life doesn’t match your posts, you’ve just become the pastor of hypocrisy chapel.

Lesson: Be consistent. Your actions should never betray your captions.

Leadership isn’t about titles or tactics. It’s about service, humility, and just enough sanity to show up again tomorrow.Lead with grace. Lead with grit. And for heaven’s sake — lead with some humor. We all need it.
